The Administrative Training Institute (ATI), Mizoram was established in
1983. As the premier training institute of the State, it conducts
Foundation Courses for various levels of Government servants including
the State Civil Service Officers. It also conducts orientation and
refresher courses for all categories of Government servants of the
State.
The Institute has its own building in the heart of the city of Aizawl at
New Capital Complex, Khatla from April 2008. The Institute’s Campus is
divided into four Blocks – Administrative Block, Lecture Hall & Library
Block, IT & Disaster Management Block and Auditorium. It has five
Lecture Halls and two Computer Labs furnished with modern presentation
equipments. The Institute’s Library is also furnished with reading rooms
and more than 8,000 volumes of books on various subjects.
Disaster Management Centre – The Centre for Disaster Management had been
set up and functioned in the ATI since 2002 under the fund provided by
the Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India. The Centre is
currently manned by one Head Faculty, three Associate Professors under a
close supervision of the Director of ATI. The Centre deals with creating
of awareness about natural and man-made disasters and conducts various
training courses on preparedness, mitigation and ways to handle the
aftermath of different types of disasters.
IT Cell - With the fast advancement in the field of information
technology, Government functionaries are utilizing IT tools for office
automation and the way how services are provided and made accessible to
the citizens are also becoming computerized. The IT Cell of the
Institute had started functioning since 2001 with the funds provided by
the Department of Personnel and Training, Government of India. The Cell
is manned by one Asst. Director and one Computer Operator-cum-Technician
engaged on a contract basis. Apart from the Institute’s normal training
course, more than 10 basic level courses on IT are conducted every year
with the help of other guest faculties drawn from local computer
institutes.
The Administrative Training Institute has made a commendable
contribution towards the attainment of qualitative and efficient
administration in the State. It has conducted 875 training courses
covering over 17,180 persons belonging to different categories of
services and organizations since its inception, and a good number of the
participants have gained onward promotion and other service benefits in
their respective line of service. |
